How many times can you take a class at WMU? ›

With the exception of courses that are approved by the University Curriculum Review Policy as repeatable for credit no more than two courses may be retaken and no course may be repeated more than once during the student's graduate career—inclusive of both master's and doctoral programs—at WMU.

To be considered full time, a student must be enrolled in 12 credit hours as determined at the time of census. Half-time enrollment is at least six credit hours. During summer sessions, full-time enrollment is at least six credit hours, and half-time is at least three credit hours.

KALAMAZOO, MI -- Western Michigan University's Board of Trustees hiked tuition to $15,252 starting in fall 2024, at its Thursday, June 27 board meeting. Tuition for a resident first-year undergraduate student is increasing by 4.5%, $658 more than fall 2023. The dollar increase is the university's largest since 2008-09.

Course Repetition for Grade Improvement

In an effort to alleviate substandard academic work, a student may repeat courses in which they have received sub-standard grades of “D”, “F”, “FW”, “NP” or “NC” by re-enrolling in the course(s). Students may repeat courses in this way for a total of three attempts.

Most schools will allow you to take more than 12 credits per semester, and some even recommend that students take 15 credits per semester. In most cases, taking more than 18 credits will require departmental approval.
